![]() The wife of the king, whether named Anteia or Stheneboea, took a fancy to him, but when he rejected her, she accused Bellerophon of attempting to ravish her. Proetus, by virtue of his kingship, cleansed Bellerophon of his crime. perhaps also for his brother's sake, by whom in the end he let himself be caught, the immortal horse by his mortal brother." Exile in Argos īellerophon's brave journey began in the familiar way, with an exile: he had murdered either his brother, whose name was usually given as Deliades, Peiren or even Alcimenes, or killed a shadowy "enemy", a "Belleros" or "Belleron", a ruler of the Corinthians (though the details are never directly told), and in expiation of his crime arrived as a suppliant to Proetus, king in Tiryns, one of the Mycenaean strongholds of the Argolid. "From this moment we hear no more of Chrysaor, the rest of the tale concerning the stallion only. Chrysaor has no myth save that of his birth: from the severed neck of Medusa, who was with child by Poseidon, he and Pegasus both sprang at the moment of her death. In Stephanus of Byzantium’s Ethnica, a genealogy was given for Chrysaor ("of the golden sword") that would make him a double of Bellerophon he was called the son of Glaucus (son of Sisyphus). ![]() Bellerophon's grandsons Sarpedon and the younger Glaucus fought in the Trojan War. ![]() Bellerophon's father was Glaucus, who was the King of Potniae and son of Sisyphus. The Iliad vi.155–203 contained an embedded narrative told by Bellerophon's grandson Glaucus (who was named after his great-grandfather), which recounted Bellerophon's myth. In some accounts, Bellerophon also fathered Hydissos by Asteria, daughter of Hydeus. Philonoe was also known under several other names: Alkimedousa, Anticleia, Pasandra or Cassandra. īellerophon was the father of Isander ( Peisander), Hippolochus, and Laodamia ( Deidamia or Hippodamia ) by Philonoe, daughter of King Iobates of Lycia. He was the brother of Deliades (also named Peiren or Alcimenes). Family īellerophon was the son of the mortal Eurynome ( Eurymede ) by either her husband, Glaucus, or Poseidon. Belleros could have been a Lycian, a local daimon or a Corinthian nobleman-Bellerophon's name "clearly invited all sorts of speculation". However, Geoffrey Kirk says that "Βελλεροφόντης means 'slayer of Belleros '". Chronos the primordial is the primordial of time and Cronus the titian is the titan of destructive time, not time.Bellerophon, Pegasus, and Athena, fresco of the 3rd style from Pompeii, first half of the 1st century BTW, the primordial Chronos and the cronus you mentioned have different domains and Cronus (the one you talked about) isnt the titan of time, there isnt a titan of time. No one (except for Kronos/cronus the titan and the second Eros) i just mentioned are god or titans, they are all primordials. Then came Gaia and then Pontus and Ouranos. First came chaos, the primordial god of creation, then when chaos made the universe, eros (not the child of Aphrodite, the original) the primordial of procreation and anake the primordial of necessity along with Chronos (not to be confused with Kronos/cronus, the titan if time) the primordial of time were the first. Depending on what story you follow but the ones that i follow go like this. ![]() She wasnt even one if the first primordials. Wrong, Gaia wasn’t a titan, she was a primordial (there are multiple stories though) and she gave birth to the titans. ![]()
